Munich Prostate Cancer Competence Network
The Prostate Cancer Competence Network is an initiative of Strahlentherapie Pasing, the Munich-Planegg Urology Clinic and over 15 urology practices in the Munich metropolitan area.
We aim to provide patients and their families with an overview of the causes and early detection of prostate cancer, as well as its diagnosis and treatment options. Above all, we would like to recommend our Munich-based network so that you can receive prompt and expert help during this difficult time. Our priority is to provide medical treatment of the highest standard in accordance with clinical guidelines, alongside a service that meets even the most exacting standards.

Anyone can receive treatment
Anyone affected is welcome to come to us for an examination or treatment. It makes no difference whether you are covered by the National Health Service, have private health insurance, or are a self-paying patient. Patients from outside Munich and international patients are also welcome. Please recommend us to your urologist or contact us directly.

Radiotherapy is a key component of prostate cancer treatment. Alongside surgery, it is the only treatment that can permanently cure prostate cancer, but it is also used successfully following surgery or in cases of metastasis. Pasing Radiotherapy Centre specialises in the treatment of prostate tumours using the latest generation of linear accelerators. To ensure that radiotherapy is delivered with precision, care and safety, we have two linear accelerators at our disposal: the TrueBeam and Halcyon models from the leading manufacturer Varian. Both are state-of-the-art devices that can be deployed flexibly according to the specific tumour and its location, taking full advantage of their respective technical capabilities.
Radiotherapy is generally carried out on an outpatient basis, so you only need to come to the clinic for your treatment sessions and can otherwise stay at home or in your usual surroundings.
The Munich Planegg Uro-Oncology Centre specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of urological cancers.
For diagnostic purposes, the clinic offers a radiology department specialising in urological conditions, equipped with multiparametric MRI of the prostate and bladder, which enables detailed tumour detection and precise assessment of tumour spread. In addition, modern biomarkers are used to improve risk stratification and reduce unnecessary invasive procedures. For further investigation, the clinic uses MRI-guided prostate biopsy, an innovative technique that combines mpMRI imaging with real-time ultrasound. This enables targeted tissue sampling from suspicious areas, thereby significantly improving the accuracy of cancer diagnosis.
At the tumour board meeting, a personalised treatment plan is drawn up for each cancer patient, taking into account the nature of the tumour and their individual circumstances; this may involve surgery, radiotherapy, drug therapy or a combination of these.
The majority of prostate removals are performed at the Uro-Oncology Centre of the Munich-Planegg Clinic using robot-assisted surgery with the Da Vinci® system . This highly precise method enables a minimally invasive procedure with small incisions, a high-resolution 3D view and maximum freedom of movement for the instruments. The combination of robot-assisted technology and surgical expertise means significantly reduced blood loss for patients, a lower likelihood of needing a blood transfusion, less post-operative pain, and faster recovery and mobilisation.
